　　中国灯笼(Chinese lantern)

　　Chinese lantern has originated from the Western Han Dynasty. Around the yearly Lantern Festival, people all hang red lanterns up, which are symbols of reunion, to create a festive atmosphere. Lanterns later become a joyous symbol for Chinese. Chinese lantern synthesizes techniques of painting art, paper cutting, paper bundling and prickseaming. Palace lantern and gauze lantern are the most famous among the lanterns made in ancient China.

　　Nowadays, lanterns still paly an important role in home decoration, but the material of some lanterns have changed from paper and bamboo to cloth, plastics and iron wire, and their shape and colour have been quite different from traditional ones.

　　中国的灯笼起源于西汉时期。在每年的元宵节前后，人们都会挂起象征团圆的红灯笼，来营造一种喜庆的气氛，后来，灯笼就成了中国人喜庆的象征。中国的灯笼综合了绘画艺术、剪纸、纸扎、刺缝等工艺。在中国古代制作的灯笼中，以宫灯和纱灯最为著名。

　　如今，灯笼在居家装饰上仍扮演者重要的角色，但是有些灯笼的材料由原来的纸、竹子变成了布、塑料、铁线，而且灯笼的形状和颜色与传统也大不相同。

　　最好的旅游方式(The Best Way of Traveling)

　　People travel by plane, by train, by ship, by bus. To me, the best way of traveling on a summer vacation is to go on foot.

　　My preference depends on the purpose of the travel. On a summer vacation I travel to refresh myself and to see the countryside. When I use my feet and walk on a grass covered path along a river or among the hills I feel detached from the noise of the city and closer to the nature. And when I travel on foot I get more freedom. I can plan my own schedule. I can choose my own route. I can stop where I like. And I can see things and people that I might miss if I travel on a train or on a bus. net

　　When faster and more convenient ways for travel are becoming available, I still favor using my own feet. I get much pleasure from it. People travel by plane, by train, by ship, by bus. To me, the best way of traveling on a summer vacation is to go on foot.

　　爱的力量(Love Power)

　　We always say that love has great power to fix anything. But what power does lovehave and how it works? In my opinion, love is the firmest connection betweenpeople. The relationship between people may be connected due to variousreasons, but love helps people understand and accept each other. So people cankeep their relationship much longer. Besides, love can heal a wounded heart. Sometimes,we may be hurt by others or we may suffer some unexpected accidents. They ofcourse will depress us. But love given by others can pull us out of depression.Because they love us, they will be around us and help us.

　　我们常说爱有巨大的力量可以弥补任何东西，但是爱到底有什么力量?它是怎样给我们力量的呢?我认为，爱是维系人与人之间的关系最牢固的纽带。人与人 之间的关系可能会因为种种原因而形成，但是能让人们相互理解、相互接受，所以关系能维系得更久。另外，爱能治愈一颗受伤的心。有的时候，我们肯能会被他人 伤害，或是遭遇到意想不到的灾祸，这都会使我们感到沮丧，但是他人给予的爱却能把我们脱离沮丧，因为他们爱我们，所以他们会相伴左右，向我们伸出援手。

　　我的暑期生活(My Summer Vacation)

　　During the summer vacation, I think I should do something interesting and meaningful rather than touring. So I found a job at a fast food restaurant and worked there as a cleaner. I worked eight hours a day for three weeks. This job was boring and seemed endless, which made me so tired that I nearly stopped it half way. But, I stuck to it with determination. Every day I started to work early in the morning and got home late in the evening. Finally, I finished the job before the new school term. Now, I realize what labor means. I think it is really a successful experience, which is worth remembering forever.

　　暑假期间，我想我应该做一些比旅游更有趣和有意义的事。所以我找了一份快餐店清洁工的工作，在这三周的时间里我每天工作八个小时。这个工作很无聊而 且似乎没完没了，这使我非常累，我几乎在中途要放弃了。但是，我决心要坚持，我每天清晨开始工作和傍晚回家。最后，在新学期前，我完成了工作。现在，我明 白了劳动的意义。我认为这是一次成功的体验，这是值得永远记住的。

　　我的爸爸(My Father)

　　My father is a tall man with a pair of glasses. Everyone says he is a kind-hearted man. He often helps his neighbours and some strangers whom he doesnt know at all. He has really done a lot for others. I dont like him to do so because I think it has taken him too much time. When I discourage him, he always says with a smile,The world needs warm hearts. My father loves his family, and loves his work even better. In the company, he is called workaholic He spends most of his time working, and often forgets to have meals or to go to bed.As a result,he doesnt enjoy good health. My father likes reading in his spare time. He told me reading was very interesting. I became interested in reading little by little. I like books, because they help me in many ways. My father has a bad habit he likes smoking very much. I hate it. See, the house is full of smoke. I know its bad for his health as well as mothers and mine. I advise him to give up smoking. Im sure he will follow my advice some day. Such is my father. I am proud of having such a good father.

　　我的爸爸 我的爸爸个子高高的，戴着一副眼镜。大家都说他是个好心肠的人。他经常帮邻居排忧解难，对于一些他压根不认识的陌生人，他也总是尽力相助。他为别人真是付 出了许多许多。我不愿意他这么做，因为这花费了他太多的时间。每当我劝阻他时，爸爸总是笑着说：“世界需要热心肠嘛!” 爸爸热爱家庭，更注重事业，公司里的人都叫他“工作狂”。他把大部分时间都用于工作，为工作他常常废寝忘食。过度的劳累使他的健康状况欠佳。 爸爸闲暇时爱读书。他告诉我，读书很有趣。我渐渐地对读书产生了兴趣。我爱上了书，因为书对我帮助很大。 爸爸有个坏习惯——太爱吸烟。我不喜欢他抽烟。瞧，家里充满了烟味。我知道吸烟有害他的健康，对我和妈妈也有害无益。我建议他戒烟。我相信总有一天他会这 么做的。 这就是我的爸爸，我为有这样的好爸爸而自豪。
